This is the first of three posts examining Gartner’s Critical Capabilities report for Enterprise Video Content Management, an expert analysis of providers’ product and service offerings of video in several key use cases. In Part 1, we’ll focus on Gartner’s analysis of the capabilities needed for Internal Executive Messaging.
We’re extremely excited to score highest among the other included providers in this use case. Internal Executive Messaging, an immensely complicated and demanding application of video, is our largest use case. You can imagine the workflow and support involved in broadcasting a live, company-wide address to hundreds, thousands – or hundreds of thousands — of employees around the globe. For the customer, it has to be easy and, at the same time, secure, manageable and available on demand.
We’ve seen increasing need for this critical communications capability as executives strive to connect with their internal audiences. And employees have come to expect it to be available whenever and on whatever device they’re using. For many of our clients, the enterprise-strength video hub that Qumu provides is an enabling technology for speaking directly with employees in new and energizing ways.
In the report, Gartner scores each provider by multiplying the use-case weighting for Internal Executive Messaging by their product/service weighting, and adding them for a total score:

Internal Executive Messaging
Under this category, Gartner points out, “Production values and video quality are an important part of delivering the desired emotional impact.” True. And we believe getting it right requires a sophisticated, delivery-optimized video hub to support those “production values, video capture and publication work processes.” Further, executives are looking for solutions that allow them to be more transparent, available and approachable to their vital internal audiences with events like town meetings.
What capabilities are needed for enterprise video solution providers to excel in this use case? Gartner includes 14 capabilities in their scoring, and of those capabilities, two are weighted the heaviest, each with 15% of the total score: Delivery Model – Hybrid and Streaming.
Here’s our take on these two capabilities:
Delivery Model — Hybrid
A hybrid delivery model provides flexibility for the organization, allowing a combination of on-premise and cloud-based video. Qumu provides both options for our customers.
